Camino Primativo - May '24

7/8/2024

After jumping off the Norte, we made our way south to Oviedo hooking up with the start of the Primativo, the oldest and original Camino. This took us 320 kms to Santiago, passing through small, quiet hamlets where the passage of time has slowed. The terrain was up and down, followed by more up and down. On our second pair of trail runners by now, we walked on thousand year old cobble stones, single track shared with cows and their pies, paved sidewalk, bike paths and auto road, farm lanes and wooded soft shoulder. It was wet. And we got really wet having not brought all our best PNW Gortex (never again). Each night we were blessed with hot showers and a warm soft yet firm bed. We stayed in pensiones, private rooms with shared baths, and bunkbeds with 4-20 others to a room. Through it all, we were stoked for every next stage, always excited for where our legs would take us today. Sad when we reached the end, but eager to do more.
